The privately owned Bowood Estate, in which the hotel, spa, and 18-hole PGA Old Course sit, has been in the Lansdowne family since 1754. Under the present Marquis, who took over the estate in 1972, Bowood has become a thriving and highly diversified estate for both leisure and business.

The House and Gardens are open from the end of March to the end of October, and hotel guests have complimentary access to all facilities as part of their stay.
